The Time Matters Document Indexer provides full text searching through all the files you need to search on your network server or other computer. But some files are best left out of the index. Here is our recommendation.

Important Note: Please see the Document Indexer Update for important additional information.

By default, the Time Matters Document Indexer excludes a number of file types from its processing, such as MP3 (music), EXE (programs), and JPG (images). We recommend that you also exclude files with the following file extensions:

;*.SV;*.ZIP;*.DID;*.DDD;*.PPP;*.TPS;*.TFX;*.AVI;*PDD;*ABT

We have included the proper punctuation so that you can select this list with your mouse (triple-click anywhere in the list) and then copy and paste it into the Exclude These File Types pane of setup window for your Document Index. Put the cursor at the very end of the list before pasting.

After scrolling to the bottom of the list, here is what the last part of the list looks like with these additions:

You may want to add to or subtract from our list. It includes extensions used by PaperPort software, data files for Time Matters Professional and also .ZIP for compressed ZIP files. Movie files (.AVI) can be very large and therefore slow down the processing of the Document Indexer.
